Reid also pointed to financial use cases: "Maybe I also want to track something in the stock market, but it's not just a stock. I want to know a very specific set of parameters. Nothing's going to do that. We'll use our real-time finance data to track and let you know."

Her comments align directly with a United States Patent Office publication from February 2026. The patent — titled Autonomously Providing Search Results Post-Facto, Including in Assistant Context — describes a system designed to solve exactly the problem Reid outlined: what happens when no satisfactory answer exists at the time a user submits a query.

Google filed a continuation on the patent in April 2026, just one month before Google I/O. That timing is unlikely to be coincidental.
