An overwhelming 76% of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) believe their organizations face significant risk of cyberattack within the next 12 months. These concerns are well-founded, as two-thirds of surveyed organizations experienced material data loss in the past year.

Insider threats have emerged as the predominant risk factor, with 92% of organizations reporting data loss from departing employees. This startling statistic underscores the critical importance of internal security measures and data protection protocols. The AI Double-Edge Sword

Generative AI presents both opportunities and challenges for cybersecurity leaders. While 64% of global CISOs plan to prioritize establishing genAI tool usage over the next two years, concerns about data security remain paramount. In the United States, 80% of CISOs express specific worry about potential customer data loss through public AI platforms.

Ransomware Response and Organizational Preparedness

The study reveals a concerning trend in ransomware response strategies. Two-thirds of CISOs (66%) indicate they would consider paying ransoms to restore systems or prevent data leaks, highlighting the difficult choices organizations face when confronting cyber threats.
